Before I start this journal, I'm thinking that I should state why I'm writing it in the first place. It's not for sensationalism, gossip, or attention, but instead for a way to track my thoughts and the events that occur during my position as a volunteer Chaplain within the Indianapolis Pagan Prisoner Ministries (IPPM) and for the purpose of discovering what the needs are of each group I work with.
This blog is not public and is invite-only within the Pagan community as I suspect that some of the things I write about here might not be understood by many outside the Pagan community. While I could simply keep a journal, I've chosen this route in order to potentially bounce ideas off of others I trust, seek advice, or new ideas.
Thank you for choosing to follow this blog and my journey through this venture!
I think I've already written to you re: prison work - i.e., that I taught GED classes when I was in college (through the campus ministry office) in the DC Men's Jail. I tried the women's jail, but not only was there no rapport with the women (b/c the main teacher was a really cute guy and I think the women wanted HIM to continue with them), but I started feeling uncomfortable with the "students".
ReplyDeleteBright blessings on your work!
